MEV Bot
An MEV bot is software that searches blockchain activity for value created by transaction inclusion and ordering, then submits transactions intended to capture that opportunity.
What an MEV Bot Does
An MEV bot watches blockchain activity for opportunities created by transaction inclusion and ordering. Depending on the network and market, a searcher may compete for arbitrage, liquidations, back-running, or other order-dependent outcomes. The bot does not control the chain by itself; its transaction still has to be included and executed.
MEV stands for maximal extractable value. The value comes from the ability to place a transaction before, after, or around other activity in a block. Not every ordering opportunity harms another user, but sandwich attacks and similar behavior can worsen execution for the targeted trade.

The categories can overlap. A launch sniper may also compete on ordering, but speed toward a specific launch is not the same concept as continuously searching for extractable value across market activity.
How MEV Affects Execution
Ordering competition can change when a swap lands and the state of the pool when it executes. That can increase slippage or expose a trade to additional price impact. A higher priority fee or automated workflow does not guarantee a protected fill.

Common Mistakes
- Using "MEV bot" as a generic name for every fast trading bot.
- Assuming every MEV strategy is a sandwich attack.
- Treating transaction priority as guaranteed execution.
- Claiming that a bundler, private route, or launch setting removes all MEV risk.
- Following code or wallet instructions from an unverified "MEV bot" promotion.
An MEV bot acts on ordering opportunities. The label does not prove that a strategy is profitable, safe, or even legitimate.
